ReplyDeleteI titled chapter one Welcome to Maycomb. i said this because it introduces the reader to what maycomb is about

Chapter 1
ReplyDeleteI titled this chapter Scout. This is because Scout is the one who is narrating the story, and knows all about the family. She tells the backround of the story.
The family is introduced. Scout starts off by explaining her family. She then explains about the Radley family, and why they are an interesting family, and also suspicuous to the neighborhood.

ReplyDeleteThe Radley Family's background was introduced in this chapter. Jem Finch was dared by Dill(Charles Baker Harris) to run up and touch the Radley house because of rumors of "Boo Radley" , who hasn't been seen in a long time.
BN

ReplyDeleteRC
I would name chapter 6 "The neighborhood gunshot" because Jem and Dill tried to put the note through the window with a fishing pole.
ReplyDeleteK.R.
Chapter 2
ReplyDeleteI titled this chapter Ms. Caroline. This is because she was a big part of the chapter to Scout, and i'm sure will be a major part in the story.
In this chapter Dill returns to Meridian. Scout looks forward to school, she thinks it will be a break from everything. Scout doesn't like the teacher, Ms. Caroline. Ms. Caroline offers Walter Cunningham a quarter for lunch, but he won't take it because he knows there is no possible way he will be able to pay the teacher back.

Chapter 3- Classmates and Compromise
ReplyDeleteA few of Scouts classmates are introduced in this chapter, one of which Jem invited over to their house (Walter Cunningham). Atticus finds out that Scout isn't enjoying school, and he says he will continue to read to her as long as she puts up with school.

BN
i have named chapter ten Atticus gets old i have named it this because he does different things that most old people will do because he shoots animals
ReplyDeleteRC
I gave Chapter 2 the name "Mrs.Caroline". Scout attends her first day of the 1st grade and meets her teacher, who seems to have an inferiority complex with some superiority elements because SHE needs to teach Scout to read, and believes Atticus cannot teach. Scout questions the teachers methods and this most likely made her feel frightened she could not do anything, so she punished Scout.
ReplyDeleteOG

ReplyDeleteRC
I gave Chapter 3 the name of "Cunningham and The Cootie". This chapter introduces Walter Cunningham, who he and his siblings come to the first day opf school every year and never come again. During class, a large insect hops out of Walter's hair and frightens Mrs.Caroline nearly to the point of fainting. It is also shown that Scout has also been learning to write, which may prove to be another problem for Mrs. Caroline
ReplyDeleteOG
Chapter 6- Peeking in the Window
ReplyDeleteDill and Jem want to peek into Boo Radley's window at night and Scout reluctantly joins them. When Jem is on the porch, there's a shadow behind him and a gunshot is heard. BN
"i have named chapter nine scout gets in a fight because she fights a fellow student"
ReplyDelete--------------------------------------------------
She doesn't fight a student, i believe that its her cousin who insulted Atticus.
BN
Chapter 10- Good Ole' Atticus
ReplyDeleteAtticus is one of the oldest guys in Maycomb, but he isn't just some old fart. He is smart, for he would rather read than go fishing or hunting. When a crazy dog comes through town, Atticus shoots it with his rifle, which amazes Jem and Scout, who never knew how well Atticus could shoot.
BN
Chapter 11- Jem's Punishment
ReplyDeleteWhen something that Mrs. Dubose says upsets Jem, he looses his temper and destroys all of Mrs. Dubose's flowers. As a punishment, Jem has to read to her everyday for a month. Jem and Scout end up learning a lot about Mrs. Dubose, but she eventually dies at the end of the chapter.
BN
I would name chapter two " the worst first day" because it shows how Scout was looking forward to starting school more than anything, and on the first day she ended up getting on the bad side of her teacher.
ReplyDelete-lb.
I would name chapter three " The Compromise" because the chapter was all about Atticus promising Scout that if she went to school they would continue reading every night. Their compromise was to be secret since Atticus could get in trouble if anyone were to find out he was teaching Scout how to read, since he never went to school. I thought this would be a decent title for this chapter, because it's important to the book, and it shows the relationship between daughter and father.

I would name chapter four "Hidden Valuables Within a Tree" because to me it seems important to the story. It creates a mysterious feeling throughout the story. It sets a setting, of curiosity. They tell you the things inside of the tree hole, and where it is found, but they don't tell you what the gum and the old-fashioned pennies mean, and they also don't say whose vaulables they are, and why they're important. And to me, that's foreshadow. And any book, who has me guessing on what's going to happen, is a good book in my eyes.

nw
Chapter 5 - "Miss Maudie and the Filthy Letter"
ReplyDeleteI would choose this title because it's mainly what this chapter was about. Scout was shut off by the boys, and she found a friend in her neighbor Miss Maudie, who taught her something about Boo Radley, and you can tell Scout changed her assumptions about the man inside the Radley house, and the filthy letter that the boys created for Boo Radley to read, was also a big part of the book, as it shows how much the boys' curosity got the best of them and that they wanted to actually have some communication to Boo Radley himself that they would try sending a letter to him through an open slot in his shutters.
